Saturday September 7, 2002
8:30am Tour : WAVELENGTH - OUTER REEF TOUR

After boarding in Port Douglas, the crew provides a brief introduction to the itinerary for the day. We then depart on a 90 minute trip to the edge of the continental shelf, passing Low Isles en route. The crew take the opportunity to get to know passengers better and answer any questions.

On arrival at our first site passengers are fitted with snorkel gear and given tips on snorkeling - with special attention to beginners. You are free to explore the wonders of the reef alone or join our qualified marine biologists. After morning tea we move along to another of our many sites, chosen to suit the conditions on the day. At the second site we conduct a guided snorkel tour, allowing our qualified marine biologists to help smokeless explore areas that might otherwise be missed, pointing out the multitude of life forms found under water. With over 1500 fish & 400 coral species to see, only the thought of a delicious deli-style lunch, with lots of fresh fruit, entices out of the water.

After lunch, we head to our final site where, with a better understanding of the reef, guests are free to adventure further into the nooks and crannies alone. Following afternoon tea we head back to Port Douglas with a wonderful view of the sun dropping down to the rainforest clad mountains.

Sunday September 8, 2002
9:50am Tour : COOPER CREEK WILDERNESS TOUR

Depart from your hotel to travel via Port Douglas to the very heart of the Daintree Wilderness. Crossing the Daintree River by vehicular ferry, we make our way through dense rain-forest overlooking breathtaking coastal views. At Cooper Creek, we visit a private rainforest property, consisting of some of the most spectacular, pristine rainforest anywhere in the world. Rainforest known to be 115 million years old - the oldest living museum on earth.

At Cooper Creek Wilderness, visitors may walk through some of the most visually stunning and biologically significant rainforest in Australia. The tours are guided and the environment interpreted to explain the bio- diversity of the area and the features which have made this a unique World Heritage site. Usually, access to National Park is limited to board walks and the density of the forest discourages self-exploration. The Cooper Creek Wilderness area fills a void by offering a journey of discovery and wonderment in this magical rainforest.

Tour includes hotel pick-up, guided walk through Cooper Creek Wilderness, river cruise in the heart of the Daintree Wilderness, lunch, afternoon tea and a swim in a beautiful clear rainforest stream. Travel is by 4WD vehicle.

Before returning to Sydney we drop into a hidden valley where we roam the area, seeking out the many kangaroos that graze in the wild (conditions permitting).
